Our beloved Sandy passed away after fighting a good fight with deteriorating health Sandy was born in Victoria and grew up with her Father and Mother (Harry and Olive Pope) and her two older brothers (Terry Pope and Lawrence aka Nori Pope). After finishing school at Royal Oak Sr. Sandy forged ahead in life and enjoyed her motorcycle riding days. After an accident requiring a long recovery, her adventurous spirit lead her to set off on an around the world adventure with a friend before settling back in to life in Saanich. Sandy enjoyed a few careers including being a dedicated and important part of the Viking Air team for over 20 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Legion in various capacities, and talked at length about the joy it brought her. Sandy’s friends and family will miss her amazing laugh, her spirited good nature, but mostly her dedication and love for her friends and family. Sandy will be remembered by anyone who knew her as being genuine and true. Sandy was an amazing sister, daughter, aunt, friend and partner. She was known for her amazing love of animals and being the life of the party. Sandy is survived by her brothers Terry and Nori Pope, her nephew Dorian Pope, and the best friends a girl could ask for. Sandy’s friends and family wish to say a special thank you to the staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital and to both Dr. Wilson and Dr. Kozial for their amazing guidance and care. An open house celebration of life will be held at Boondocks Cafe – 9732-1st Street in Sidney, on July 14th, from 2 pm until 5:30 pm. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation in Sandy’s honor. |
