October 16, 1939 - February 16, 2017 |
Elizabeth Jane Mill (nee Burns) known to everyone as Liz, was born October 16, 1939 in Rhonehouse , Scotland to Alexina and William Burns, the middle of three children. Liz , a beloved wife and mother, was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully in the early morning of February 16, 2017 at the Priory in Victoria, B.C. after many years of enduring the cruel effects of MS. She loved her family deeply and was deeply loved in return. Survived by her loving husband Murray, daughters Karen (Mark), Lesley (Rob), grandchildren Gavin, Anna, Sam, her dog Milo, as well as her siblings Bill and Zena. Liz, Murray and their daughters immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1974. She enjoyed her life in Canada and always stayed deeply connected to Scotland. To anyone who was fortunate enough to know Liz or to have met her only briefly, they always liked her. She had a way with people that few do. She loved to talk with people and even a quick grocery shop would never be as she would always say hello to everyone she knew. She was compassionate, bright, always respectful and kind. She could always make people feel good. Liz worked in banking for many years in Thompson , Manitoba, locally in Colwood and Sooke (Coast Capital Savings) and had many clients who were loyal to her and would wait for Liz to help them. Many thanks and a deep gratitude to Liz’s care providers over the past years at the Priory (Oak Cottage and Hiscok House). Liz loved animals and in particular the dogs she and Murray enjoyed over the many years together. In lieu of flowers you may consider a donation in her name to a local animal shelter/rescue society. Also, next time you see a friend/acquaintance and you’re in a rush take the time to stop and say hi to them as Liz would have done. She would have liked that. |
