September 25, 1951 - October 9, 2020 |
Mary-Lou Switzer passed away peacefully on October 9, 2020, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC, after her courageous battle with cancer. Through her many health challenges, Mary-Lou kept her upbeat and positive attitude. Mary-Lou was born September 25, 1951 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Mary Lou’s childhood took her to Ladner, British Columbia, where she graduated high school and moved on to a career with the federal government. Mary-Lou met her husband Squirrel (Roger), a member of the Royal Canadian Army, and together they travelled the world to military posts across Canada and Europe. Along the way Mary-Lou made life-long friends and relationships. Pre-deceased by her loving husband, father, and her beloved grandmother, she leaving behind her fur baby “Belle’, her dear mother Shirley Gailbraith, brothers Bruce (Patti), Jimmy (Tracy), Barry (Karen), and sister Patti-Ann (Don), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. We will remember our dear friend as the lady with the infectious personality and wonderful smile. We would like to send special thanks to the health care professionals at the Vancouver Cancer Clinic, Victoria Cancer Clinic, and the Royal Jubilee Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your charity of choice. A celebration of life will be held in the future for family and friends when the time is safe for gatherings.
