W.W. (Bob) Falk passed away on Aug. 6, 2021 in Victoria, BC. Bob was 84 years old and was married to his beloved Iris for 61 years. Bob was born on June 11th, 1937 in Waldheim, Saskatchewan, the youngest of eleven. As a child he loved to play baseball with his friends. He worked at a variety of jobs in his youth digging wells, working in the fields stooking hay and on a oil rig. Over the years Bob and Iris had many adventures. They lived in Saskatoon where Bob worked for Premier Laundry Service. There they welcomed their first daughter, Janet, in 1961. Their next move was to Calgary where they welcomed their second daughter, Judy, in 1962. The laundry service had him doing deliveries to the Bassano/Cluny/Gleichen, AB. area. After a short time living in Bassano, they settled in Gleichen, buying the Riddell farm in 1965. Bob started working at CP Rail in 1966 out of Gleichen. Their last daughter, Helen, was born in 1971, completing their family. During their time on the farm they raised cows, chickens and pigs. Bob and Iris curled, square danced and volunteered in the community. Bob played baseball with the Gleichen Mercurys and refereed hockey. He made time to coach all of his daughters in fastball and curling. Bob retired from CP Rail in 1997, marking 35 years. In 1999, Bob and Iris sold the farm, bought a 5th wheel RV trailer and travelled all over Canada. They also enjoyed cruises to Alaska, in the Caribbean and to Hawaii. They made great memories in a Cuban trip as well as a river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. In 2004 they settled in Victoria, BC, where Bob played Senior baseball. He and Iris also joined a 5-pin bowling league. Bob will be remembered as a person everyone knew and loved to talk to. He was great fun to be around and had a wonderful sense of humour. He was the first person to give help when needed. Bob enjoyed life especially walking through it with Iris by his side. Bob is survived by his wife Iris, daughters Janet (Morgan) Andrus, Judy (Graeme) Pickering and Helen (Neale) Taylor, three granddaughters, three grandsons and four great-grandchildren. |
