Shari Anne HOUSE (HOUSE)

October 22, 1959 - February 2, 2026

Shari Anne House passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026 in Victoria, BC, with family and friends by her side. Shari was born October 22, 1959 in Winnipeg. At the age of 2, the family moved to Dauphin, MB where she grew up and attended school, graduating from high school in 1977. That September and not yet 18, she enrolled in the Dental Nursing program at Wascana Institute in Regina, SK. She graduated with distinction in June, 1979.

Shari worked as a Dental Nurse in Manitoba schools until that program ended shortly after her graduation. She returned to Wascana Institute and completed the Dental Hygienist program, graduating in April of 1982. Shari worked as a dental hygienist in Calgary for many years, furthering her education and specializing as a periodontal hygienist. In 1993, she moved to Victoria, BC where she continued her career as a hygienist in periodontal offices, and where she lived until her passing.

In her earlier years, Shari enjoyed the gym and playing squash, but her real love was being outdoors in the sunshine, preferably on the beach. She could spend hours outdoors, walking, gardening or just “catching sunbeams”. Shari had an amazing green thumb, growing lush indoor and outdoor plants, and her little backyard garden in Victoria was her pride. When she wasn’t in her garden, she was at the beach or on walking adventures with her son Callum, for whom she was a fierce advocate and completely devoted.

Shari had a very big and generous heart. She had an uncanny ability to pick out “the” best gifts for family and friends, always accompanied by her humorous notes. Shari was well-known for her kindness to and compassion for those less fortunate, and befriended everyone.

Shari was predeceased by her parents, Harvey House and Irene House, brother-in-law Darcy Parrott, and her favourite uncle with whom she was very close, Albert Mayer.

She is survived by her son, Callum House, her sisters Debbie Parrott (Craig Fraser), Maureen and David Lindsay, Michelle and Peter Kokan, many nieces, nephews, and two great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, many cousins, her special friends Deb and Zena, and Lucy, her beloved Jack Russell terrier.

A service for Shari will be held at a later date in Victoria.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honour Shari’s spirit of kindness by helping someone less fortunate, or by making a donation to Threshold Housing Society.
