BLATCHFORD, Mark passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, with his family and loved ones nearby. Mark fought a brilliant battle with arthritis,
Crohn’s and cancer, and he left behind a legacy of heroism, strength and quiet
determination. Predeceased by his parents, Carlos and Violet; cherished husband of Colleen and loving dad to Alyssa and Lucas; Mark leaves behind his sister Pam (Kevin), and brother Barry, his nephews and great nephews.
Mark will forever be remembered by his family and friends as a true hero who loved to laugh and lived life to the fullest, definitely on his own terms.
A celebration to honor Mark will be held on Wednesday, June 12 th @ 3:30 pm at the Sooke Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the
Arthritis Society, the Canadian Cancer Society or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark’s incredible health care team for your amazing support over this life-long journey.
A special thank you is extended to Dr. Kristy Herrling, Dr. Sumi Liebscher, and Dr. Peter Dryden.
Mark was so blessed to have a revolving door of nurses but heartfelt hugs go out to Kim Hoffman, Carla, Crystal, and the whole palliative team. We will be forever grateful that we were able to honor Mark’s wishes and have him be at home for his final “lap around the track”.
