January 11, 1965 - January 27, 2020 |
Glenis Marie Boudreau (Stenger), born January 11, 1965 passed peacefully January 27, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Through the many treatments, scans and appointments Glenis remained positive, upbeat and unwavering in her fight often reassuring others that she would beat the odds. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Alec and Peggy Stenger, she was raised in Colwood, BC and graduated from Belmont Senior Secondary. Glenis went on to a fulfilling career with the Provincial Government, including her most recent position at the BC Ambulance Service where she received a 30-year long service award and leaves behind a second family of her many close friends and co-workers. Predeceased by her parents Alec and Peggy Stenger, she leaves behind her best friend and loving husband of 22 years, Brian and fur baby Sirus. Greatly missed by her siblings Steve (Jill) Stenger, Stan (Patricia) Stenger, and Gina (Mark) Pala, mum Claudia Hemphill, brother in-laws Scott (Joanne) Hemphill, Dan Boudreau. Devoted and special auntie to her nieces and nephews, Taylor, Michael, Stacey, Jennifer, Kyle (Jessica), Alyshia, Emily, Allegra and Brooklyn as well as her great niece Kaylee. Glenis is She leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and her “girls”. Glenis adored Brian who she met 29 years ago through mutual friends and they were rarely apart. She was an avid gardener and a master at tending to her incredible roses. Known for her kindness, generosity and selflessness, she was loved by so many people, probably more than she ever could imagine. A bright light gone too soon and big shoes to fill. Glenis had a great love of music, and anyone who knew her understood her deep devotion to her favorite band, the Goo Goo Dolls and how she would never pass up a chance to see them, or an opportunity to travel to her favorite vacation destination – Las Vegas. She was lucky at the slots, often prompting friends and family to rub her head for luck! Our family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Stuart Bax for the special care and concern he provided to Glenis. Thank you to the many health care professionals at the Victoria Cancer Clinic for your support over the last 15 months. To the staff at Victoria Hospice and the Palliative Response Team who made daily visits, a heartfelt thank you for your kindness, care and attention to Glenis and our family during her last weeks. In Lieu of flowers the family requests you consider a donation to the Victoria Hospice Foundation. Much of the amazing work done by these caring individuals is funded through private donations. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 1:30p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Westshore Parks and Recreation Centre Fieldhouse – 1767 Island Highway, Victoria BC (near the Q Centre). |
