It is with great sadness that we announce that David George Bennett died peacefully at home on November 28, 2022, at the age of seventy-three. Dave was born on October 10, 1949, in Windsor, Ontario to parents Alton (Bennett) and Mary (Szabo). The family moved to Toronto when he was 10.
Dave graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Mathematics. He started work as an Actuarial Assistant but transferred to the computer department. It was while he was working in the IT department of a large life insurance company that he met and married the love of his life, Susan (nee Champion). He loved to tell people that he “married the boss”. In 1995, they settled in Greater Victoria where he worked for the Civil Service as a Business Analyst, until his retirement in 2009. Dave was many things: golfer, amateur astronomer, ice racer, curler, avid bridge player, crossword puzzler, traveler, but most of all: beloved husband.
Dave is lovingly remembered for his kindness, enthusiasm, curiosity and humor by his wife Sue, his sister Lorna, his niece Jenifer, Sue’s nieces and
nephews Kieran, Rebecca, Amanda, Laura, Curtis and Lisa and his many grandnieces and grandnephews.
We miss him terribly.
As Dave wished, his body was given a green burial at the Royal Oak Burial Grounds. In lieu of flowers please donate to the BC Cancer Foundation
