It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney Clayton LePretre. He went peacefully with loved ones by his side in Victoria BC on November 2, 2023 at the age of 60 years old. Rodney was born in Peace River, Alberta on December 10, 1962 to Delphine and Paul LePretre SR. He attended school at Glenmary Roman Catholic school in Peace River and went on to complete his schooling in Grouard, AB. He then attended post-secondary school at NAIT in Edmonton, AB. where he studied carpentry. Rodney started his carpentry apprenticeship with T.H. Gust Builders in Peace River. Rodney moved to Vancouver Island in the early 1990’s where he continued to work at various companies working his way up to becoming a Master Carpenter. Rodney worked for Gemini Falling Contractors at the time of his passing in Victoria, BC. Rodney was a mentor of his trade to many of his nephews and nieces. This provided fond memories amongst them as he often filled the role of “big brother” growing up. Rodney is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Angus), grand children, Ashton and Chase, sisters Diane Sound (Steve), Brenda Smith (Alvar), brothers, Terry LePretre, Paul LePretre JR, Vern LePretre (Jennifer), many nieces and nephews and their children as well as his best fur buddy Cliff, who will all miss him. Rodney was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Delphine LePretre, his older brothers, Arthur LePretre, Kenny LePretre, Gale LePretre and Melvin LePretre; as well as his eldest sister, Linda Fountain. His fur babies, King, Jake, Elwood & Po. Rodney loved his life on the Island, especially when friends or family came to visit him. But as they say, ‘Peace River always calls you home’, his final wish was to come home and to be laid to rest with his Mom and Dad. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in 2024. Donations can be made to a local animal centre of your choosing in his name. |
