Dear Joanne and family, Barbara has been part of our musical family in Sooke & Victoria -- our most loyal Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra audience member; patiently present at almost every rehearsal as well (and an expert on word searches). We'll miss her lovely smile and stalwart nature. You have given her the greatest of loving care for such a long time. Our thoughts are with you as you reflect on your mother's long, full life -- Michele & Trevor

So hard to lose a mother. Joanne, you cared for Barbara tenderly for so many years. What a blessing. Our mother had such wonderful memories of your mother. Ken and I were so lucky to visit with her just before she moved to Victoria to be with you.....and then we had a lovely short visit with you both in 2007. Didn't she love her jig saw puzzles? Barbara did so much work on family genealogy - we are all benefitting from her dedication to it. We are thinking of you with love. Sheila & Ken Moore Keswick Ridge, N.B.

Joanne, my mother spoke often of her happy memories of childhood summers with her siblings and her cousins Barbara, Murray, and Meme. She admired Barbara for practising medicine during a time when few women did. Later she very much appreciated Barbara's interest in and knowledge of family history and genealogy. In recent years my mother often expressed admiration for the competent and loving care you gave Barbara. Wishing you and your family happy memories, Robin Ellis Stanley

Barbara and my father Marvin Lougheed were classmates in medical school at McGill. Dad enjoyed seeing Barbara at class reunions. I called her on his behalf several years ago and we had a great chat about medicine and families. She was a role model for women in medicine.
