Obituaries

Cynthia passed peacefully in her sleep on March 13, 2025 in Victoria, BC. She leaves to mourn her husband Peter, son John (Carmen), two granddaughters, siblings Sharon, Ross, Joanne & Lorraine as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Many will remember her as a happy and fun filled individual who worked as a records clerk in the BC Ministry of Environment. 

Cynthia was born in 1948 in Halifax Nova Scotia moving to Edmonton at a young age. She spent her High School Years in Inuvik NWT before returning to Edmonton where she met Peter. In Edmonton she graduated in secretarial courses at Alberta College.

Peter and Cynthia married in 1972 and moved to Victoria two years later. Here she worked on various assignments with Office Overload before the birth of son John. She was a happy stay-at-home Mom through John’s childhood and elementary years before venturing back into the workforce – first part-time then fulltime as a records clerk until her retirement.

Cynthia was a beautiful fun individual with a quirky sense of humour. She was a cherished wife and mother, and had many friends. She loved fashion, hats and clothes serving as a floor model for the Canadian Costume Society. Over the years she volunteered in various ways at schools, Beavers and as a senior’s exercise leader. She enjoyed activities such as walking, running and travel.

Sadly she has been lost to most for nearly 9 years requiring care for advanced Alzheimer’s disease. Many thanks are due to the staff of the Salvation Army Sunset Lodge and also the BC Alzheimer’s Society through those difficult years. You may wish to honour Cynthia by donating to one or other.
