David Ross Philip, 59 of Victoria, passed away on April 6, 2023 after a very short battle with cancer.

Dave was born on October 3rd 1963 and was welcomed by proud parents Bernice & Dave Philip in Victoria, BC. Dave had one younger sister Corrie.

Growing up only a year apart Dave and Corrie shared a lot of mutual friends and had many fun times together. Partners in Crime they kept their mother on her toes. Dave was fiercely proud of his sister in all her accomplishments and quietly protective of her.

In 1983, Dave met Janet. They went on to have 1 son, Joshua Ross. Dave and Janet split up in 1989 but remained friends/family until his death.

In 1989, Dave met Kathy. Dave welcomed step son Steven into his life. They went on to have a son named Matthew. Dave and Kathy remained together until Kathy’s passing in 2013 Dave found his calling in becoming a truck driver which is not surprising for those who knew Dave, knew how much he loved being behind the wheel.

Dave loved Music and could often be seen playing finger drums on the steering wheel of his car with the music blaring for anyone in a 2 block radius to hear. Muscle Cars were another big interest of Dave’s. Dodge…. to be exact. He took a lot of light hearted ribbing from his car friends about driving a Dodge. He finally gave in and bought himself a Ford mustang in later years and much to his own surprise, he loved that car!

Dave loved laughter, fun and practical jokes. He was always up for a good time and was always so pleased with himself when one of his many practical jokes hit the mark.

Dave was a good friend. He was a great listener and he loved meeting his friends for a coffee and a chat. He was easy to talk to and fun to be around.

Dave’s hobbies/ interests included chess, military history, music, cars, paint ball and computers to name a few.

Dave was predeceased by his partner Kathy Alford, his mother Bernice Philip, his father David Philip. Grandparents Isla and Clarence Ross & John & Janet Philip. Aunt Nina & Uncle Tom Phillips. He is survived by his sister Corrie Philip, His sons Joshua, Matthew and Steven and his grandchildren Kayleigh and Rhayna, along with family all over the country. Dave left behind his very well-loved 23 year old cat Fuzzball who was taken in by Helping Homeless Cats of Greater Victoria.
