Edith Mary Helen (Molly) Richards passed away peacefully at home on Sunday Sept. 8th. She was born on Oct. 24 1922 in Storrington, Sussex, England. Molly married Thomas Henry (Jimbo) Richards in St. John’s Church in the County of Sussex, Nov. 23rd 1940. She emigrated to Canada with her husband and 2 young children in 1949, settling in a house Jimbo built on Leslie Drive in Saanich. The family grew, having another son before moving to another of Jim’s custom built homes on Ardmore Drive in Saanich.
Molly is predeceased by her husband Jimbo and 3 siblings Peg Warren, Lalie Barnicle, Charles Green. Molly is survived by her daughter Justine Leslie (Grant) Richards and sons, Martin James Richards and wife Susan, and Robin Kim Richards and wife Jennifer. She is survived by a large and loving family including grandchildren: Ian Grant, Eric Grant, Niki (Post) Richards, Lisa (McKim) Richards, Jessica (Retzleff) Richards and Jaime Richards. Molly is also survived by her great grandchildren: Deanna, Justin, Wade, Connor, Sydney, Jazlynn, Trista, Mylie, Kenzie and Tyce.
As per Molly’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Molly will be laid to rest beside her husband Jimbo at Holy Trinity Church Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation at 2166 Mount Newton Cross Road, Saanichton, BC V8M 2B2 and the Mount Newton Centre Society at 2158 Mt Newton Cross Rd, Central Saanich, BC V8M 2B2.
