It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Georgeane Hyde, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, partner and cherished friend.
Lovingly remembered by her children, David, Sharon, Philip and Karen (John). Her family continued to grow, blessing her with 7 grandchildren: Anthony (Un Yung), Angela, Andrew (Celine), Carolyn (Cian), Alyson (Craig), Isabelle, Emily (Tyler); and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense joy in her life.
Georgeane will be sorely missed by her loving husband and partner Ross Smith, with whom she shared three decades of joyous living.
Predeceased by her father George Leveridge, mother Elsie, step-mother Edith, brother Jack (Elda), and sister Bonnie Shepperd (Edward).
Her family have fond memories of sharing her passion for the outdoors, travel, and her love of animals, especially dogs and birds. She taught us to pause and listen, to notice the small, beautiful moments that make life so meaningful. One of her many gifts as a grandmother was how she embraced each grandchild’s uniqueness and always made them feel celebrated and loved. Georgeane’s home was open, relaxed and filled with love. One could be themselves in her presence.
Georgeane worked throughout her life to support herself and her family. She worked at the Canadian Red Cross Society, John Howard Society, One-Write Accounting Systems, and finished her career as a realtor in Victoria. With honour, she enjoyed her volunteer services for the Victoria Crisis Center, Royal BC Museum, and the Sendial Program.
Above all, Georgeane was deeply loved. She faced life’s challenges with grace, courage and resilience. She touched the lives of everyone she met in a way that will never be forgotten, and her beautiful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those lucky enough to have known her. Her family finds comfort in the memories shared, and the love that continues to bind them together.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
