Janet Mayled (nee Gray) passed peacefully at her home, in keeping with her wishes, in Sooke, B.C. on December 1, 2024. Janet was born in Calgary, AB in 1940 but she built her life and family in Greater Victoria.
First and foremost Janet was a dedicated wife to her husband Harry whom she loved with all of her heart and who passed in 2013. She was an amazing Mom to her three daughters Linda (Rob), Kathy and Debbie and a Grandma to Nicole, all four survive her. Janet was predeceased by her parents Norman and Sylvia and sister Carolyn.
Janet was many things…a quick wit, a fabulous baker and cook, a beloved school receptionist and a skilled sewist. She knitted a baby outfit for practically every baby born within the last 50 years.
Janet had a love of gardening and a passion for traveling with Harry in their fifth wheel. Janet was a person that you truly had to meet to appreciate. She was beautiful and unassuming and if you could make her laugh, well…that was everything.
A casual get together will be held on December 18th , 2024 at the Olympic View Golf Club at 643 Latoria Road from 1:00 to 3:00.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Janet’s memory to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the BCSPCA.
