Share your Memorial with Family & Friends
In loving memory of Joan Edith Dooley (nee Dolby) October 29, 1944 – May 16, 2014, born in Leicester England.
Please join us in celebrating her life on May 30, 2014 @ 10am. The service will be held at Glad Tidings Church, 1800 Quadra Street, Victoria BC.
Joan and husband Michael came to Canada in 1973 with their three children Carolyn, Jason and Justine. They settled just outside of Edmonton and eventually built their first home in Stony Plain Alberta where she had two more children, Joel and Sarah-Marie. In 1989 the family moved to Victoria BC and this became home for the remainder of her years. In that time she enjoyed becoming a Canadian Citizen, traveling on the bus, visiting Sidney by the Sea and spending countless hours with her children and friends
Joan was known for her strength and determination. Her enthusiasm for her faith and love for God shone thru everything she did. She was a loyal friend with a great sense of humour who was always thinking of others. As a window dresser in her early years, she had a great eye for design and talent for sewing and making things. This was reflected in the welcoming and beautiful homes she made to raise her family and entertain friends. As a mother, she instilled strong values and role modeled the integrity of living what she believed.
Her lovely smile, kindness and love will be greatly missed by her children; Justine, Joel, Sarah-Marie and Ken Ward, brothers Patrick and Mike Dolby; sisters in law Joyce Dolby and Myrtle Dooley; grandchildren Tyler and Matthew Mowbrey; and all of her extended family and friends.
Joan is now reunited in heaven with her predeceased children Carolyn, Clive and Jason; husband Michael and parents Lancelot and Edith.
