In loving memory of John Terrance Pounden aged 66, who passed away on June 19th 2025. John suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest on June 12th and succumbed to his injuries a week later at Royal Jubilee Coronary Care Unit in Victoria, BC.
Predeceased by his mother Edith and father Bruce, he is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter Amanda (Tyler), son Mathew. John will be remembered by friends and family for his loyalty, love of golf and unique chuckle.
Born in Montreal Quebec August 17 of 1958, John moved to the Westcoast to join the still booming logging industry where he trained as a choker man.
He later worked in Vancouver at Thomas Skinner and sons and drove taxi in Vancouver. Working for Mutual warehouse brought him to Vancouver Island where he lived for his remaining years. John met the love of his life Virginia in Victoria on February 12 1986 and they married in 1990. Taking up residence in Metchosin in 1993 and raising their children. John always took great pride in his work over the years. He worked at Colwood/Langford (JB) Auto Group as a parts man for many years & BC Transit as shipping/parts man and purchasing agent until his retirement in 2023.
John was a dedicated member at Metchosin Golf Course for many years. His family will be hosting a party for Johns friends to gather, enjoy a burger and raise a glass in his honour at the golf course on August 24th from 1 to 3pm.
