It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of June Georgina Roberts. June was born on May 5, 1940, in Leeds, England, and passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on January 19, 2025, in Victoria, British Columbia.
June was predeceased by her parents, Charlotte and Harry Garnett, her brother Harry Garnett, and her first husband Brian London. June is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Eric Roberts. June’s children: John London (Wendy); Jane London; grandchildren Jay London and Miles London-Walker. Eric’s children: Cherie McGuire (John); Sandi McManus (Chris); Dene Roberts, and their children and grandchildren. Family in Scotland: Lynne Garnett and nieces Margo Markie; Heather Garnett; Sharon Garnett Snedden and nephew Stuart Garnett.
June’s life was a testament to kindness, friendship, hard work, and many natural talents. She began her story in Leeds, where she met her life-long friend Jean Wheatley, and her first husband, Brian. Immigrating to Canada, June and Brian opened and operated successful hair salons, first in Hamilton, Ontario, and then in Victoria, British Columbia. Then June spent 15 years working for the federal government, serving seniors with the same compassion that defined her life. She understood the importance of preserving the dignity and happiness of those in their older years. After retiring from government, with her husband Eric, she ran bed-and-breakfast, floral and pottery businesses.
June was known for her ever-present smile – and her gentle, nonjudgmental and supportive nature made her a source of comfort to her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to meet her. She taught us that the essence of a person goes far beyond memory, that the core of who we are is woven into the love and compassion we share with others. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a reminder that even the simplest of smiles can affect someone's day. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
With deep gratitude, we would like to acknowledge Agnes Knowles whose companionship brought immense joy to June. Her kindness, devotion and nature walks to enjoy the beauty of the flowers June loved so dearly, will be forever cherished.
A special thank you to Dr. Keith Darcel and the staff of Heritage Woods care home.
A celebration of June’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 2:00 pm, at Friendship Community Church, 7820 Central Saanich Road, Saanichton, BC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that an act of kindness or service be performed in her honor.
