Kay was born in Oungre, Saskatchewan on January 1, 1933. She came from a large prairie family and was the mother of four children; Margaret (and Wayne), Ken (and Jean), Linda (and Bill), and Mike (and Janis). In the early years they lived in Manitoba and then moved to Beaubier, Saskatchewan before finally settling in Victoria, BC in 1963. In recent years Kay was a fixture at Colwood Lodge, or as the family affectionately called it, ‘Cootie Castle’.
Over the years Kay spent her time crocheting, doing puzzles, baking, sharing with others, collecting knick-knacks, and more recently cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. She especially loved to spend time in the garden, tending to her flowers and growing vegetables.
Kay is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Kay is now at peace following her year and a half battle with cancer, but her memory and legacy will live on through her family.
A service will be held on Tuesday August 20th, 2013 at 2:00pm at , 2250 Sooke Road followed by a tea at the same location.
