Obituaries

Jane Foster, of Victoria BC, died on October 19th at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. She was born on a dark and stormy night June 10, 1963 in Montreal, Quebec; the 6th (yes, sixth) of seven children ( I know, can you believe it?) of Myles and Catherine Foster. After doing the vast majority of her growing up in Ottawa Ontario, Jane ran away from home to attend the University of Guelph; see Jane run. Graduating with a B.A.Sc in Child Studies (with Honours- surprise!) in 1987. Her first job in her field was as a pre-school teacher at Red Hill in Hamilton; it affirmed for her that the right field was chosen – good, cuz Jane was a left field kind of gal! She married Richard Blinn in 1988. Dick and Jane had 2 fantastic boys together, Benjamin and Jonathan.

They divorced in 1996. Jane’s greatest joy was raising her own two boys. After her boys had been born and well established as her favourite people , Jane took a job as a Special Education Assistant for School District 61 in Victoria, BC. Jane was so fortunate to have had a second chance at love, she found the love of her life in her partner Barb Csinos at all places her boy’s baseball game – talk about romantic! A back garden rainbow wedding was held on April 6th, 2005.

2001 marked Jane and Barb’s entry into the world of Foster Parenting with well over 25 kids to pass through their home for MCFD. A few of Jane’s favourite things: homemade gourmet meals, great wine, her garden, her chorus, and quarteting. Jane was influential to many who came to know her, whether in her fields of work or her pastimes. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Donations can be made to Hospice/ home care.
