Hello Jill (and Bruce)- I was saddened to see your Moms’ name in the obituary section, I don’t read them often, I guess I was guided there on Sunday. I remember just how important your parents were to you, how much care and attention you paid them, just as I would expect from you. Having parents and being parents are, to me, two entirely different things. I have no experience with the latter but I did live somewhat vicariously for a time through your experiences with Kathryn. I appreciated and learned from your stories. I do have experience with the former. My Dad is still around at 98. My Mom passed four years ago and I believe I do quite understand and empathize with you at this time. Parents are wonderful gifts…remind Kathryn of this fact…fortunately they are always with us. Your Friend, Doug Nichols

My daughter was one of the many, many young people that Olive taught to sew. She started by making her own graduation dress and has gone on from there to making clothes for the family. Now, nearly fifty years later, she is still reaping the rewards of those early lessons as she derives great pleasure from her fabric art (mostly quilts). What a wonderful legacy Olive has left. R.I.P. dear lady.

To Jill and family, my deepest condolences to you all on your loss. I certainly enjoyed having met Olive at the War Brides Reunion at the Empress Hotel. We have had many get together since, and numerous phone calls! A great lady who joined the many thousands of other war brides and came to Canada - so very brave and in love! Enjoy all the happy memories, and if any of you can come to the war brides and family reunion next year in Calgary please call me , we must not let their huge contribution to Canada disappear! May she Rest In Peace. Pauline
