Peggy Ann Stenger born April 14, 1939 passed suddenly May 15, 2017. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom Peggy surrounded by the love of her family. Peggy was a kind, strong woman loved and respected by many. Peggy is predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Alec. Sadly missed by her children Steve (Jill), Stan (Patti) Glenis (Brian), Gina (Mark) grandchildren Michael, Stacey, Jennifer, Kyle, Alyshia, Emily, Allegra, Brooklyn and great granddaughter Kaylee her nieces, nephews and many friends. Peggy is predeceased by her brothers Alec, Ronnie, Joey, and sister Linda. Peggy is survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and an abundance of good friends.
Born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, she couldn’t help but follow her heart when she met a sailor named Alec and moved to Victoria, BC. Peggy was introduced to Alec by her brother Ronnie and 54 wonderful years ensued. Peggy was a loving and devoted wife and an amazing mother to her children and granny to her grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake and was proud to be a homemaker. She was extremely proud of her family and loved spending time with them. Christmas was her favorite time of year.
Peggy was a wise woman who welcomed family and friends into her home. Her door was always open and the coffee was on. She never missed important life events like graduations, birthdays or just cheering from the sidelines at her children and grandchildren’s games and activities.
Peggy was a volunteer at the Goldstream Food bank where she made many good friends and enjoyed spending time helping those less fortunate. She was a regular at the Victoria Fish and Game where she established strong friendships, and prepared lunches for various events. Her close friends at the range were an important part of her life and became an extension of her family.
Our family would like to extend their gratitude to the ICU staff at Victoria General and to Dr. Michael Miles for the special care he provided over the years and to Debbie for your kindness and support.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests you donate to a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday June 4, 2017 at the Olympic View Golf Course.
