Reverend Ronald A. Donovan, born April 14, 1937, died peacefully at home on August 1, 2013, following a prolonged struggle with coronary and Parkinson’s diseases. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ron leaves behind his beloved wife Dorothy, sons Paul and David (Alexandra), daughter Lois (David), grandchildren James (Chris), Eiliene (Mauricio), Charlotte (Rene), Vivian, Lucas, Harrison, Grace and great-granddaughter Aurora. He is also survived by his brother William (Elvie) of Nashville North Carolina, cousins and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father William, mother Grace (nee Croft) and brother Donald.

After spending his early career as a full-time minister Ron, a published author, spent his latter years in Victoria honing his craft but more important to him spending time with those he loved. Ron will be remembered for his dedication to his children, his boundless love for his grandchildren and great-granddaughter and his devotion to his wife. His love for the Lord shone through his eyes and encompassed those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

He will be remembered by friends from his ministry with the Salvation Army, Pastor in Chatham Ontario, self-help programs in Haiti, and work with ministers through Circuit Teaching International, mostly in Central America. Ron was also a building contractor and businessman over many years and in many cities.

Ron and Dorothy would like to thank all those who cared for him from Beacon Community Services for their loving care.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 3 pm on August 24, 2013, at City Light Church at 550 Obed Avenue.
