In Loving Memory of Ronald (Ron) Frank Billinghurst, CPA, who passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the age of 91.

Ron was preceded by his wife Janet and son-in-law Mike Mayo. He is survived by his daughters Penelope and Carys (Richard), and grandchildren Nicole, Robin, Malcolm, and Gillian.

He was born and raised in London, England, and was married to Janet for 70 years. Ron and Janet spent the early years of their marriage in Nigeria and Ethiopia before moving to Canada and settling in Edmonton, Alberta, in the early 1970s. Early in his career he worked as a Chartered Accountant for Price Waterhouse, and in Edmonton was a partner with Gaida and Billinghurst.

In the late 1990s Ron and Janet retired to Sidney, BC, where they embraced life on the island. Ron enjoyed reading mystery novels in the garden.

Ron believed in contributing to the community and he volunteered with non-profit societies both in Edmonton and on Vancouver Island. Ron and Janet also made a positive difference in the lives of the children they fostered.

Throughout their marriage Ron and Janet travelled to many countries and enjoyed experiencing new cultures. In later years Ron liked to spend quality time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, at 2 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, North Saanich. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Auxiliary to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
