Bill was born September 2nd, 1941 in Trail, BC and passed away August 2nd, 2025 in Victoria, BC at the age of 83 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his “better half” of 21 years, Linda, his children: Lanny (Jeff), Christina and Neil (Fran); his treasured grandsons, Ade and Kemi; Bill’s blended family, Alanna (Steve) and their children, Avery, Jack and Ayla; and Matt (Kerri); Bill’s sister Susan and brother Jim; as well as nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sister Melva.

In his youth Bill was a ham radio operator and an air cadet. Bill was an original “computer nerd” entering into the technology field in Vancouver in the 1970’s. He was very proud of his work with the Hewlett Packard Company, “the best managed company in the world”, as he used to say. He wanted to run his own business so he bought a Radio Shack store in Vancouver. Among other endeavors, he facilitated the work of BC’s Premier’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology in 1987. He eventually “retired” to the Kootenays and then moved to Kelowna in 2004.

He recognized the software program called “Skype” as a game-changer at its inception and joined the Skype beta testing group in 2003. He continued working with Skype for eight years, eventually becoming the Manager of the Beta Testing Group in the Americas. Working with Skype provided trips to Europe for their annual conferences. Linda tagged along and they explored many wonderful areas of Europe together after each conference wrapped up.

Bill was an excellent chef. He enjoyed exploring and cooking culinary delights of every sort. He excelled in many ethnic dishes but his favourite was Italian.

In 2010 Bill and Linda began a farming venture in Kelowna – Okanagan Garlic – which they successfully ran for four years.

Bill and Linda retired to Victoria in 2017.
