Agnes (Nan) has been a great friend to Ken and I soon after we set foot in Canada in the late 1980’s. It was Mary Toft who first introduced me to her when we met at the “hen convention” held at Mary’s home. Agnes has touched many people’s lives, including ours. She was always kind to her friends and the people she interacted with, regardless of differences in culture, religion, or age. Since Agnes moved to Victoria for her retirement, we met each other on only a few occasions through our trips to Victoria, or hers to Toronto. After every visit, Agnes always left us and our two children, Victoria and Michael, sweet and long-lasting memories. One of the best memories we had with Agnes was the time she came to see us off early in the morning at the airport on our last visit to Victoria. She brought toys and colouring books to the children to make their long and early flight back to Toronto more enjoyable and less stressful. We were so touched by her love, and the exceptional warmth and hospitality she extended to our family during those visits in Victoria. Our children are always fond of Agnes because of her thoughtfulness, acts of kindness, and the friendship she gave to our family. It is not often that they remember someone like Agnes with whom they met and spent time together only a couple of times. This speaks volumes about how great a person Agnes was. Agnes means a lot to our family. We will always miss her and remember the time we spent together. May she rest in peace.

This morning my sister received a letter from Regina Davis to tell her that Nan had passed away. We were so sorry to hear this news but sadly, Nan's friend my sister Jan Symington passed away very suddenly on 29th January at the age of 49 years. Jan and Nan have been friends for many years and Nan always visited us when she came over from Canada. I am sure both Jan & Nan will be having a good catch up in Heaven with the Lord. God Bless them both xx
