She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lloyd Allan Friedrick, her son Bradley Allan Friedrick, her daughter Lynn Dee Friedrick, and her son-in-law Arnold John Stephens. She also leaves behind Brad’s family, Kyle Passamare and Jocelyn Herbers and their son Kane, as well as Lynn and Arnie’s family, Mike and Marie-Josée Stephens and their children Ellie and Stanley; Mark Stephens and Maggie McCarron and their children Scarlett, River, Charlie, and Jack.Dorothy is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends all over the world.
Dorothy was born in Venn, Saskatchewan, in 1930. She graduated from high school in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and from nursing school at Saskatoon City Hospital in 1950. She met Lloyd in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, and they married in 1954. Dorothy and Lloyd lived in Edmonton, Alberta, for many years, and retired to Victoria in 1988.
Dorothy enjoyed travel, volunteering, books, theatre, cats, entertaining, and brisk morning walks. Most of all, she loved her days on the beach in Honolulu, and visits with her treasured friends. We will miss her greeting cards, warmth, and lively spirit.
At Dorothy’s request, there will be no service. Her family is grateful for the excellent care she received from the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, and extends special thanks to Dr. Michael Szeto for his compassionate care over the years.
We will keep her memory in our hearts forever.
