The family will be holding a service on Friday, January 12, 2023 at 10:00am, St John the Baptist Church 537 Glencairn Ln, Victoria, BC, The burial will follow at 11:00am, Hatley Memorial Gardens and there will be a reception at 12:00pm.

Raymond William Bey (Ray) September 18, 1935 – December 19, 2023. He was survived by his sons Jordan (Genna) and Brandon (Julie-Ann), sisters Margaret (Bill) and Josie (Lorne), and his beautiful grandchildren Annabelle, August and Austin. He was predeceased by his parents Harry & Mary Bey, sister Elsie Bey and his brother Norman Bey.
Graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Social Work in 1973, he served the community in many roles over the years. He worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker for the Ministry of Health for the majority of his work life. His unwavering commitment to helping others was rooted deep in his understanding of the value of community and the power of human connection. Even into retirement, Ray continued to help by collecting food from local bakeries and other items to donate to those less fortunate.
Ray lived his life in accordance to his faith, finding solace and strength in his relationship with God, especially this past year. He loved gardening and tending to his strawberries and often shared the fruits of his labor with his family and neighbors.
Ray had a deep passion for music and was an amazing trumpet player, starting young and honing his craft over the years. Not many people know this but In the 70’s, Ray was the lead singer in a gospel quartet called The Dominionaires even creating a 12 song vinyl record which still exists today.
